Since We Grew Apart (work in progress)

The wind has not been colder since we grew apart,
The avid clangs of memories do
spawn timeless shapes of what could be,
yet keep us from all that is beyond what we hold in our empty hands.

We walk in a mud shaped avalanche of all that we expect,
We stand inside that happenstance,
Too afraid to move, too afraid to let go!
…that sorry weakened vine that serves to tie us to such memory.

That empty hand did hold that weakened vine;
Did hold that span of distant crime,
I long to see it go, see it fade into timeless nothingness,
But what, as I stare at empty hands, doth keep me to this vine?
It is not my grip, it is not my strength, this vine is wrapped around my heart.

It has been an eternity since we grew apart,
A not forgotten distant stare, memories singed into empty air,
We tug, we push, we pull again, cyclic anger without an end,
Someday perhaps we’ll pull anew, pull together as lovers do
Perhaps, perhaps…the sun set down-another day gone through.

The wind that howls each passing day,
the wind that drives each a different way,
This thickened rope hath intertwined,
This vine, this vine, chocked forever out of lovingness
Since we grew apart.

Gave It No Name

Ah the warmth of sunlight basking down
The chill of evening does abound,
The line that breaks the two slides by,
No name for this part of neither’s sky.

Light to the left – none to the right,
On the left there is day – on the right there is night,
Abound in the fact that neither is wrong,
It’s right in this middle the two get along.

It’s hottest or coldest the further you get,
But seek in this middle where neither’s a threat.
Rejoice in this meeting where neither finds shame,
And thank God for the fact that He gave it no name.

The Change

Tis strange, this change I’ve found in you,
For as often as the storm clouds shake my soul,
As keenly as the lightening strikes and the thunder roars,
I know above them the sun is always shining.

You say you changed for me?
Does an evergreen become a spruce?
Or a stone become a feather floating in the wind
For the sake of itself or the ground below it?

No, change is uniquely yours, it serves only your purpose,
And purpose is like envy, it is only yours if you say it so,
For a change in one’s nature is like telling the scorpion not to sting,
Or a bird not to fly, or the for breeze not to gently cool your brow.

The Change you say is not really change at all,
Either it is or it isn’t, it cannot be created, it cannot be destroyed,
It is, or it isn’t, it was or it wasn’t
the Truth behind the way things are.

No Written Word

The sun needs no rule, no written word to tell it to shine;
The earth needs no rule, no written word to tell it to spin;
A tree needs no rule, no written word to tell it to shed it’s leaves;
Water needs no rule, no written word to tell it to nourish;
The clouds need no rule, no written word to tell them to rain.

As long as we all are true to our natures, without ego, we will all know the power and the love of God.

Do not cry.

As I sleep eternal-
Do not cry for me,
Stay happy in the knowledge
That I am where I am intended to be.

Take heart my dear,
That as a newborn baby I am free,
To go where I am destined to go,
To see what I am destined to see.

Please smile my darling,
As you gaze upon the confines that once had me bound,
And do not long for me,
For my feet no longer touch the ground.

Please hold me in your soul,
For there you will never be alone,
Look inside yourself to find my open arms,
And understand, at that moment, all that you have shown.

For I love you,
And that love will never die,
And as clearly as I return from where I came,
I will be waiting for you~do not cry.

I will own by letting go.

She is my wife,
but not my wife.
She is my partner,
but not my partner.
She is my lover,
but not my lover.

She is not mine,
Her thoughts, feelings and needs are not mine,
Yet they belong to me,
And are the essence of the we that makes us whole.

I do not walk for her,
Yet I am with her every step along the way.
I do not breathe for her,
Yet she is the sound in every breath I take.

I once could not see,
Where the light was the brightest.
I once could not hear,
Where the sound was so clear,
I once could not understand,
What was so easy to read,
I was so smart I could not think beyond the thoughts of a child.

I will learn by just watching,
I will see by just closing my eyes,
I will hear by speaking in silence,
I will be whole by falling apart.

I will own by letting go.

Some thing out of no thing…

This early morning dawn,
Brings some thing out of no thing,
Echoes songs of love, songs of God
Throughout limited time left eternal in the promise of tomorrow.

The boundaries of the flesh,
Brings some thing out of no thing,
As the gift of my soul in flight
Allows my weary bones to find daylight in the darkness of night.

The hand I feel in mine,
Brings some thing out of no thing,
The hope that springs from deep within
Fills the need for forgiveness found in the depths of sin.

Lord, allow me to share
What I am,
No thing from some thing,
Some thing from no thing,
Allow me to feel the warmth inside the presence of cold,
Allow me to see the light in the pits of darkness.
Allow me to hear the music in Your dawn’s early light,
Allow me to smell the green earth beneath my feet
And allow me to taste the nectar of love from within the bitterness of hate.

Never allow me to feel so much that I can no longer feel,
or see so much as to blind me,
Never allow me to hear so much as to forget to listen,
or to smell the sweet in such abundance as I cannot recall the sour.

And Lord,
Your humble servant begs of you, never allow me to become so accustomed to the sweet nectar of love as to not hunger for more. Never allow me to forget the pangs of such hunger, as to not offer this meal to others.

What you feel is life, what you live is another story.
